Conventional vs. Digital Impressions
Using an iTero™ scanner, our team can take highly accurate digital impressions of your smile. This innovative technology completely eliminates the need for traditional tray-and-putty impressions, which means you no longer need to wait 3-6 minutes for the material to set inside your mouth. Dr. Galati also uses the iTero scanner to create digital models for study or to design orthodontic appliances, such as clear aligners. Unlike traditional impressions, digital scans cannot be lost or broken.

The iTero scanner allows for a more accurate impression of your smile, resulting in enhanced treatment and a more comfortable experience for you, the patient. Digital impressions allow our orthodontist to view a 3D image of your teeth immediately, which improves communication with the orthodontist and understanding of the treatment processes.

How does it work?
The iTero scanner is a compact, handheld wand that uses the latest optical technology to capture a digital image of the tooth and gum structure. The scanning process can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.

The scanner utilizes a radiation-free laser and renders a digitally perfect 3D impression of your teeth and gums in as little as 4 minutes. Because they are digital records, we are able to store them in your patient chart and even share them with any other treating provider.

If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of iTero digital scanning in your dental care, please contact Galati Orthodontics at 480-656-7801. We will be happy to provide you with additional information and help you schedule an appointment at our office in Scottsdale, Arizona.
